Starting from 2016, Georgia may ban import of right steering wheel cars

Starting from 2016, Georgia may prohibit the right steering wheel car import. This is only one article in the draft, which was developed by the Ministry of Internal Affairs. The Courier, got hold of a new road traffic safety program the day before the its presentation. Accordng to this program the changes will also spread on the cars with transferred steering wheels their registration will be banned from March of the next year.

NGO Eco-transport center was one of those who took part in the discussion. The Centre said that the project is unconstitutional and in the case of its adoption they will file a lawsuit against it.

Another issue, which the NGOs protest against is the fee of 150 GEL. According to the third sector the owners of the vehicles with transferred steering wheel will be required to wear the so-called signs, which will cost 150 GEL..

The bill prepared by the law enforcement agencies is critisized by the opposition. National Movement said, that the changes will affect the poor population.
