Inspectors from the Guria Department of the National Food Agency have identified two illegal meat and meat product production facilities in Ozurgeti.
"An individual identified as A. K. (N1 Takaishvili St.) was producing meat at a makeshift facility without the mandatory authorization from the Agency and in violation of sanitary-hygienic standards. Meanwhile, individual entrepreneur Z. A. (N35 Guria St.) was operating an unauthorized slaughterhouse without veterinary supervision or the required mandatory recognition from the Agency.
As a result of state control, critical non-compliances were identified at both locations. Over 135 kg of pig and poultry carcasses and offal of suspicious origin were sealed. The business operators were fined, and their production processes have been suspended until the non-compliances are rectified.
The Agency urges consumers not to purchase food - especially meat and meat products - from disorganized trade settings or products lacking health marks. Business operators are warned to comply with food safety requirements and obtain mandatory recognition before commencing activities related to meat production/processing", - says the agency.
