To date, Tbilisi City Hall has funded 220,338 requests within the framework of the 500-GEL medication funding program.
As the Mayor of Tbilisi stated at today’s municipal government meeting, the “Medication Funding for Socially Vulnerable Persons of Retirement Age” program was launched in 2022 to provide medications to this demographic, fulfilling an election promise.
“This program continues this year, allowing those who need our support the most to receive a 500-GEL voucher. The program beneficiaries, according to the unified database of socially vulnerable families, are retirement-age individuals registered in Tbilisi whose family social rating score does not exceed 200,000. Medications are issued to socially vulnerable pensioners based on a doctor"s prescription. Citizens receive electronically prescribed medications at their preferred pharmacy”, - said Kakha Kaladze.
As he added, the 2026 budget for this program, managed by the Tbilisi City Hall Department of Healthcare and Social Services, amounts to 10 million GEL.
