Veterinarians from the National Food Agency are carrying out disinfection measures in the village of Bandza, Martvili district, to eradicate the rabies virus.

In the outbreak area, vaccination of susceptible animals and veterinary supervision are underway. During the quarantine period, the movement of animals is restricted. Disinfection is also being performed on vehicles belonging to the Imereti Department that were used to transport the infected animal.

On April 14 of this year, a stray dog transferred to the Kutaisi shelter - which had been kept in isolation under observation due to its suspicious status - tested positive for rabies in a laboratory [Test Report #2465].
