Employees of Adjara Main Division of the Central Criminal Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Customs Department of the Revenue Service of the Ministry of Finance have detained a person with dual citizenship of Germany and Russia on charges of illegally purchase, storing and importing psychotropic substances in a particularly large amount into Georgia.
Law enforcement officers seized a particularly large amount of psychotropic substances - 1,400 pills of pregabalin - as evidence at the Sarpi customs checkpoint, while checking the defendant's hand luggage.
The investigation is underway under Articles 261 and 263 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, envisioning the imprisonment for up to 12 years.
