The Prosecutor’s Office of Georgia has charged two individuals, including a foreign citizen, with the illegal purchase, storage, facilitation of sale, and sale of a large amount of narcotics.

An investigation conducted by the Ministry of Internal Affairs revealed that a foreign citizen was illegally storing a large amount of the narcotic drug “methadone (base)”, which he placed in various locations.

The investigation also revealed that the second defendant had illegally purchased and stored the narcotic drug “buprenorphine”, which he sold to a citizen at various times. As a result of the measures taken, law enforcement officers seized the narcotic drugs.

The detainees were charged under Article 260, Part 2, Subparagraphs “a” and “e” of the Criminal Code of Georgia (illegal purchase and storage of narcotic drugs, including in large quantities, by a convicted person), Article 260, Part 5, Subparagraph “a” (facilitation of the sale of narcotic drugs in large quantities) and Article 260, Part 5, Subparagraphs “a” and “e” of the Criminal Code of Georgia (illegal sale of narcotic drugs, including in large quantities, by a person convicted of a drug crime), which provides for up to 20 years or life imprisonment as the form and extent of punishment.

Based on the prosecutor’s request, the defendants have already been sentenced to imprisonment as a preventive measure.
