The Minister of Internal Affairs of Georgia, Sulkhan Tamazashvili held an introductory meeting with Anna Rich, the newly appointed Representative of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees [UNHCR] to Georgia.

The Minister congratulated Anna Rich on her appointment to the new position and wished her success in her future endeavors.

During the meeting, the parties discussed the existing international protection system in Georgia and other ongoing priority issues. Particular attention was paid to recent developments in migration management and asylum legislation, as well as the associated challenges and achieved outcomes.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the Minister expressed his gratitude to the UNHCR Representative for the organization’s contribution to strengthening the Ministry’s institutional capacity over the years. Sulkhan Tamazashvili also conveyed hope that the existing cooperation would be further deepened through joint efforts.
