Prosecutor`s Office charged 4 persons with the illegal acquisition, storage, and facilitation of the sale of particularly large amounts of narcotics and psychotropic substances

The Prosecutor`s Office of Georgia has charged 4 individuals, including a foreign citizen, with facilitating the illegal purchase, storage and sale of a particularly large amount of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances.

The investigation conducted by the Ministry of Internal Affairs established that the defendants illegally purchased and stored a particularly large amount of narcotic drugs "Methadone", "Cocaine", "Alpha-PVP", "Mephedrone", "MDMA" and the psychotropic substance "Ketamine" for the purpose of facilitating their sale. As a result of the measures taken, officers of the Central Criminal Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs seized the aforementioned narcotic drugs and packaging materials.

The detainees were charged under Article 260, Part 3, Subparagraph "a" (illegal purchase and storage of narcotic drugs in an especially large amount), Article 260, Part 3, Subparagraph "a" (illegal purchase and storage of narcotic drugs in an especially large amount), Article 260, Part 6, Subparagraph "a" (facilitation of the illegal sale of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances in an especially large amount), and Article 261, Part 3, Subparagraph "a" (illegal purchase and storage of psychotropic substances in an especially large amount) of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which provides for up to 20 years or life imprisonment as a form and measure of punishment.

Based on the prosecutor`s motion, the court sentenced the defendants to imprisonment as a preventive measure.
