One person has been charged with a traffic accident in Tbilisi that resulted in the loss of a person`s life and has already been sentenced to imprisonment as a preventive measure.

An investigation conducted by the Ministry of Internal Affairs established that on June 22, in the vicinity of Tsotne Dadiani Street in Tbilisi, the accused drove his car rapidly, as a result of which he collided with a pedestrian moving in the same direction on the sidewalk and a car parked on the sidewalk.

As a result of the collision, the victim suffered multiple non-life-threatening injuries, as a result of which he died upon being taken to the hospital.

Police arrested the defendant on the same day. He was charged under Article 276, Part 6 of the Criminal Code of Georgia (violation of the rules of traffic safety or operation of a vehicle that resulted in the loss of human life), which provides for up to 7 years of imprisonment as a form and measure of punishment.
