The Patriarch of Georgia turns 83 years old today.

Ilia the II was born in Vladikavkaz, on January 4, 1933 in a family of Giorgi Ghudushauri-Shiolashvili and Natalia Kobaidze.

He was chosen as the Patriarch after death of Davit V , on December 23,1977.

Ilia II, Irakli Shiolashvili, January 4, 1933 in Vladikavkaz, George Ghudushauri-Shiolashvili and Natalia Kobaidze family.

Ilia the second was enthroned on December 25, 1977.
