Law enforcement officers seized a particularly large amount of narcotics in Tbilisi and the regions of the country

Officers of the Patrol Police of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Tbilisi, Kakheti, Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti, Samtskhe-Javakheti and Shida Kartli Police Departments, arrested 7 individuals at different times on charges of facilitating the illegal purchase, storage and sale of a particularly large amount of narcotics and psychotropic substances, as well as the illegal cultivation of a plant containing narcotics.

Among the detainees are both Georgian and foreign citizens.

As a result of the personal search, and other search activities held in residential houses and homestead plots, law enforcement officers also seized a particularly large amount of various types of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances from various locations as evidence, including "methadone", "buprenorphine", 201 roots of "herbal cannabis", 143 packages of "tetrahydrocannabinol", "dried marijuana", "baclofen" and "gabapentin".

The police also seized materials necessary for the packaging of narcotic drugs.

The investigation is underway under Articles 260, 260-4 and 265-1 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, envisioning up to 20 years or life imprisonment.
