Georgian Railways breaks decade-long freight turnover record

Georgian Railway has broken the freight turnover record of the last decade - in June, the company transported more than 1,360,000 tons of cargo.

This result is attributed to the completion of modernization projects and the launch of the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway. Thanks to digitalization and new trains, shipping times have been drastically reduced.

Furthermore, an unprecedented investment of GEL 1 billion is planned for purchasing wagons and locomotives. Officials in Tbilisi state that the growing freight flow confirms once again that the role of the Middle Corridor in the international market is steadily increasing.
