President of Georgia and his Turkmen counterpart held a face-to-face meeting at the Presidential Palace.
As Mikheil Kavelashvili noted, Serdar Berdimuhamedow’s first state visit to Georgia represents an important milestone in the development of bilateral relations and reflects the strengthening of high-level political dialogue between the two countries.
The Presidents discussed prospects for expanding cooperation between Georgia and Turkmenistan, placing particular emphasis on deepening trade and economic ties, promoting investment, and strengthening collaboration in the energy, transport, and logistics sectors. They further highlighted the importance of making more effective use of the Middle Corridor’s strategic potential. The meeting underscored Georgia’s role as a key link connecting Europe and Asia and highlighted the country’s interest in enhancing transit connectivity, including through the future utilization of Black Sea ports and the Anaklia Deep Sea Port.
Kavelashvili and Berdimuhamedow also discussed strengthening cooperation in culture, education, and science, emphasizing the importance of people-to-people ties, the expansion of youth and academic exchange programs, and support for joint cultural initiatives.
Georgian President thanked his Turkmen counterpart for Turkmenistan’s continued support for Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
