As a result of heavy rainfall in Kakheti, the flooded Telavis Khevi River damaged the irrigation infrastructure. The disaster damaged the Matsantsari siphon (inverted siphon) and several sections of the Upper Alazani main canal passing through the territory of Telavi.
Intensive restoration works are currently underway, the progress of which was inspected on-site by Gigla Tamazashvili, General Director of "Georgian Amelioration" LLC.
At this stage, the Upper Alazani main canal is being cleared of gravel, rocks, and sediment carried down by the flood. Appropriate machinery is mobilized on-site to restore the irrigation infrastructure in the shortest possible time and ensure the uninterrupted functioning of the irrigation system.
