The Government of Georgia will launch a nationwide state internship programme starting from September 1, offering up to 3 000 positions across central government institutions and municipalities. Such a statement Head of the Georgian Government Administration made in the interview with Imedi TV.

“At the initiative of the Prime Minister, a large-scale state internship programme will be announced from September 1, which will cover both central government bodies and municipalities.

We are inviting final-year undergraduate and graduate students, as well as graduates of bachelor’s and master’s programs - that is, people who have sufficient theoretical knowledge that can then already be applied in practice. The public service is a very good platform for this, to gain as much experience as possible, and accordingly, we are waiting for applicants, we are waiting for activity.

We will place a special emphasis on the regions. We asked the municipalities to add as many vacancies as possible, so that local young people have the opportunity to undergo internships in their own city, in their own settlement, in the mayor’s office, etc., and gain experience corresponding to their profession.

This is an initiative that came from the young people themselves; they expressed very great interest in undergoing internships in the regions, in their own cities. Accordingly, we also responded adequately and asked the municipalities to increase the quotas and vacancies in this direction. We think that we will achieve a very good result.

What could be better than a young person who is already a graduate or is studying in the final year of bachelor’s or master’s programs being able to make a certain contribution, including within the framework of the internship, to solve this or that issue of their own city and, in general, to being involved in the process”, - said Levan Zhorzholiani.
