Georgian MPs responded to the report of the Council of Europe Secretary General, Thorbjorn Jagland . The Secretary General"s 2015 report mentions Rustavi 2 case.
"Mr. Jagland is, impartial, friendly towards the country, qualified specialist, so what he says should be very carefully looked into in every specific case. The cases regarding the Identity are known to us and we know in what direction we have to work. As to media, the remarks are fair and we know how to work. Thank God, it is writtens in a way which gives us a chance to fix drawbacks, "- said Levan Berdzenishvili.
The UNM states that the existence of free media is essential and necessary for the democratic countries.
"Today the freedom of the most important media outlet, Rustavi 2, is being considered in the Court of Appeal in the accelerated mode," - Giorgi Vashadze said.
Thorbjorn Jagland`s report notes that "the Council of Europe Parliamentary Assembly expresses concern with regard to the judicial decision, which is aimed at replacing the management of the Georgia"s most popular independent broadcasting company,
