Second day of Warsaw Summit - President Mrgvelashvili delivered a speech at North Atlantic Council closed session

The President of Georgia participated in a meeting of heads of states and governments of the countries participating in ISAF mission in Afghanistan and delivered a speech on the Resolute Support Mission. 

The meeting was opened by NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, after which the heads of states and governments delivered speeches.

Giorgi Margvelashvili focused on the efforts of the NATO- member and partner countries in the fight against terrorism.

According to him, the world today faces challenges; security is a prerequisite for development and vice versa, there is no security without development.

He also talked about Georgia’s role in the NATO peacekeeping mission y and noted that in spite of the occupation, Georgia has been and remains one of the main contributors and that the will of to the Georgian people is to become a NATO member.

At the end of the meeting, the President supported extension of the Resolute Support Mission.
