Six non-governmental organizations call on the Supreme Court to take into proceedings Rustavi2 suit
The statement was published on the website of Transparency International - Georgia.
"Yesterday, on July 12, Rustavi 2representatives filed an appeal in the Supreme Court against the Court of Appeal`s decision, which upheld the lower court"s decision on Rustavi2 and awarded 100% ownership of shares to Kibar Khalvashi.
"Public sector observed the judicial process. During this period,we have made repeated statements on the deficiencies detected in the Court of Appeal and in the court of first instance .
This, and especially proceedings in the first instance court , have strengthened the suspicion of a possible political influence which is our serious concern. Especially before the elections, the development of events around the critical TV station that could lead to change of its editorial policy, will damage the country`s pluralistic media environment and the quality of democracy.
We call on the Supreme Court, and legislation to recognize aceptable the hearing of the case, to rule out the question marks that exist in connection with political interests in this case , "- says the statement,
