Sergey Lavrov, the Russian Foreign Minister is going to pay a visit to Sukhumi on April 18 . Tbilisi assesses his visit to the occupied territory as another step towards annexation and provocation.
" This is violation of international law and of course is not directed towards resolution of conflicts. In the light of such developments international community"s support for territorial integrity and sovereignty of Georgia are very important,"- says Sopho Katsarava, a Chairman of the Parliament"s Foreign Relations Committee.
The opposition accuses Georgian government of negligence and passive policy. United National movement claims that the ruling party should inform and mobilize international community.
" Georgian government does not have a political will to oppose Russia . Moreover, we do not pay enough attention the Geneva format,"- says Nino Kalandadze.
European Georgia criticizes the government"s foreign policy as well,
" This is a part of annexation of the occupied territories by Russia. The answer should be quite severe and the government should work more in order to mobilize the international community,"- said Sergo Ratiani.
