Memory of those killed during the war between Georgia and Russia in 2008 was honored in various regions of Georgia. The war heroes and Georgian national hero Giorgi Antsukhelidze who died for unity of homeland were remembered in Kakheti.

Memorial events were held in Rustavi too. Five soldiers from Rustavi died in the 2008 Russia-Georgia war. All of them were awarded with the Order of Vakhtang Gorgasali after the death.

The memory of those killed in the Russian-Georgian war was also honored in Kutaisi.
