The Court of Appeal has released Emzar Kvitsiani just a few minutes ago.
His relatives applauded the decision at the session hall. Convicted of an attempt of a munity, Kvitsianihad been sentenced to 12-years of imprisonment. The grounds of his release is the procedural agreement, which was signed only after his prosecutor was dismissed.
Emzar Kvitsiani was convicted of organizing a mutiny in Kodori Valley and has been wanted since 2006. He had fled to Russia but then returned to Tbilisi in 2014, where he was immediately arrested.
