The Presidents of Georgia and the European Council held a bilateral meeting, after which Giorgi Margvelashvili and Donald Tusk made statements for journalists.

The sides mainly talked about possible cancellation of visa-free travel to Europe and Archil Tatunashvili"s murder in Tskhinvali prison.

"The cooperation between Georgia and the EU is excellent and effective. Visa liberalization and increase in trade volume is proof of this. Implementation of the Association Agreement has brought tangible results for Georgian citizens and promotes political and economic stability. I welcome the commitment of the Government of Georgia to continue working with EU Member States to ensure proper functioning of visa regime. The EU remains committed to resolving the conflict and supports Georgia"s sovereignty and territorial integrity within the internationally recognized borders. We are concerned about the attempts of creeping occupation in South Ossetia and Abkhazia. The tragic death of Archil Tatunashvili and the detention of the other two persons is a sad reminder of the price of the conflict, "Donald Tusk said.
