Prime Minister sees space for talks with Russia and the opposition demands his resignation

The Prime Minister of Georgia still maintains the hope of constructive negotiations with Russia. Giorgi Kvirikashvili sees space for conversation with Russia.

The prime minister is criticized by the opposition, which says that the Russian response is cynical and that Giorgi Kvirikashvili should resign because of sending the letter.

The foreign minister does not exclude that if the Russian side has a constructive approach, high-level political figures may take part in negotiations.

The opposition thinks that the search for space in the Russian response is illusion and the steps taken by the prime minister are only in Russia"s interest.

The Prime Minister sent a letter to the Russian Federation on March 9 and received a response from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in three days. Moscow described the death of Archil Tatunashvili as a "sad incident" and welcomed Tbilisi"s initiative on "direct dialogue" with Sokhumi and Tskhinvali.
