Russia reserves the right to take retaliatory steps towards Georgia - Russian Foreign Ministry

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia released an official statement on the expulsion of foreign diplomats from the country.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation on March 30th, 2013 summoned the Heads of diplomatic missions of the Republic of Moldova, Denmark, Ireland, Spain, Italy, Canada, Latvia, Lithuania, Macedonia, Moldova, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Romania, Ukraine, Finland, France, Croatia, Estonia and handed over the protest note.

Russia is declaring "Persona non grata" a number of employees of diplomatic corps of these countries and the reason is the expulssion of "Russian diplomats".

"Taking into consideration the fact that in the last few days Belgium, Hungary, Georgia and Montenegro have joined steps against Russia, Russia reserves the right to take retaliatory steps," the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
