"Rustavi 2" Case in Public Defender"s Report - Ombudsman Asks Strasbourg to let her office join the case with a status of third party

Broadcasting company "Rustavi 2" is in the Ombudsman"s 2017 report, in the part about freedom of expression.

The Public Defender requests the European Court of Human Rights to let her office join the case with a status of third party . According to Nino Lomjaria, the relevant request has already been sent to Strasbourg.

"The process which is carried out in the common law courts, indeed, raised questions. We welcome the fact that the case is discussed in the European Human Rights Court and the Public Defender appealed to the Strasbourg Court with a request to give us the opportunity to present our respective position regarding the case," - said Lomjaria .

A case of Afghan Mukhtarli, the Azerbaijan journalist is also mentioned in the report.
