The Ministry of Corrections has responded to the President"s statement on the pardoning of a convict in the murder of a 25-year-old girl killed in Barnov Street. According to Alexandre Darakhvelidze, Head of the Legal Department of the Ministry of Corrections, identical data were sent to the President"s Administration and the Parole Commission with regard to the person who killed a young woman a few days ago.
In addition, Darakhvelidze explained that the data sent by the penitentiary facility does not include either positive or negative assessment, but contains only description of objective circumstances: how he/she observed the rules, whether he/she was involved in social and rehabilitation programs, and a psychologist’s report.
"Both the Pardon Commission and the President made decision based on this information. We made negative decisions on the early release six times," said Darakhvelidze.
