Deadline expires, "Georgian Dream" cannot reached agreement on liberalization of Drug Policy

The deadline given by the multi-thousand protest rally organizers held in the center of Tbilisi expires in 5 days, however, the Georgian Dream is unable to reach an agreement on liberalization of drug policy.

From the morning, the ruling party managed to gather together with Bidzina Ivanishvili, but it is still unclear if the drug user will be punished by imprisonment.

Due to differing positions, the parliamentary majority do not rule out that they will hold a vote ballot and they will agree on the final version.

Part of the ruling party, which supports decriminalization of all drugs, offers three-stage reforms to the teammates.

If the users are detained by the police for the first the criminal case will not be launched and the drug user will be sent to the Commission of Inquiry, where psychologists and law enforcement officials will try to persuade the user to give up drug consumption. In case of repeated cases, drug users will be sent to the Commission of Inquiry again but they will be deprived of their driver"s license and right to work in public service, and in the third case if two attempts are ineffective, the drug user will be arrested.

Who Bidzina Ivanishvili supported during the 4-hour meeting is unknown.
