Procedures for granting Georgian citizenship are becoming stricter. The amendment is planned in the law according to which the period of living in Georgia needed to receive citizenship is increased from 5 years up to 10 years.

Whereas the period of granting citizenship in a simplified manner,may increase up to 5 years instead of two years. The Committee on Legal Issues has prepared amendments to the Law on Citizenship and will be initiated in the Parliament in the nearest future.
At today"s bureau sitting MPs will also discuss the  agenda of the current week which includes the legislative package prepared on the violence against women and amendments to the election code.
