The nomination of the Chief Prosecutor"s candidacy will be done by the involvement of the public - Prime Minister made a statement after the meeting of the political council held in the office of the "Georgian Dream". According to Giorgi Kvirikashvili, at this stage there was no talk about a particular candidate, but the main principle is that the person nominated for the position of the Chief Prosecutor will have high legitimacy in the society.

"From tomorrow the Ministry of Justice will begin discussing the candidacy of the future Chief Prosecutor with the maximum involvement of the public. Also, as we promised the public, these consultations will be as broad as possible. Our goal is to nominate a candidate for the Chief Prosecutor who will be selected by maximum legitimacy from the public. We have just come to the principles, but as for the candidates in particular, there was no discussion yet on the political council. Only then will the political council decide when the government will approve a certain candidate, "the Prime Minister said.

Irakli Kobakhidze explained the procedures of approving the Chief Prosecutor.

"The Justice Minister will select candidates on the basis of consultations. After that the decision is made by the Prosecutor Council and only after that the Government approves the candidacy and this approved candidate will be brought to the Parliament of Georgia, "said Irakli Kobakhidze.
