Three hours before the expiry of the deadline for submission of candidates for the position of Chief Prosecutor - 20 applications have been submitted to the Prosecutor"s Council till now. The head of the government"s administration, Shalva Tadumadze, is named as Georgian Dream"s favourite. Among the candidates is Irakli Nadareishvili, who is supported by the government as well.

The Opposition parties have complaints against governmental candidates. UNM members state that , it is impossible to speak about the independence of the Prosecutor"s Office when Bidzina Ivanishvili"s personal lawyer is considered as a candidate for the Chief Prosecutor"s position.

"Ivanishvili will not give up this post, which he needs most of all alongside with the post of the Interior Minister, who will be completely obedient and will carry out his orders, instead of serving the citizens of Georgia, "Tina Bokuchava said.

European Georgia demands not to allow Tea Tsulukiani to involve in the process of selection of the Chief Prosecutor.

"It is very important not to involve Tea Tsulukiani in this process and not to see her in the new cabinet of Ministers," said Irakli Abesadze and noted that Shalva Shavgulidze, who is presented as a candidate by the party is free from political influences.
