Embassy does not confirm the death of a Georgian citizen during fire in Greece


"This information about the deceased has not been received by the Embassy," said the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Georgia to Greece and Serbia, Ioseb Nanobashvili.

Nanobashvili does not confirm that a Georgian citizen died during a fierce fire in Greece.

The ambassador said that he could not connect with one of the citizens of Georgia shortly thereafter, but his whereabouts were already revealed and he feels safe.

According to Ioseb Nanobashvili, the Embassy of Georgia works in emergency mode in Greece.

“We would like to inform you that the citizens of Georgia are found and safe. Accordingly, since yesterday evening until now, the Embassy responded to all the notifications received through the "hot line", and all the incidents related to these messages have been exhausted, "the embassy said in a statement.

At least 60 killed in the forest fire in Greece. There are foreign citizens among the victims. The death toll is expected to rise.
