In an exclusive interview with Hromadskoe (Громадское), Condoleezza Rice recalled the details of the telephone conversation between her and Sergei Lavrov.

The State Secretary of the United States recalls that during the hostilities she was contacted by her Russian colleague who named three main conditions for ceasefire.

The first two were the return of the Georgian soldiers to barracks and signing of the document on non-use of force.

Condoleezza Rice says that the third condition was unacceptable for her - it was Mikheil Saakashvili"s resignation, which at Lavrov`s request needed to remain secret.

The US diplomat said in a telephone conversation that the heads of foreign affairs of the two countries had no right to speak about the dismissal of a democratically elected president and warned Sergei Lavrov that she would definitely publicize this information. Including at the UN Security Council.

According to Condoleezza Rice, even though Lavrov did not believe her words, she did so.
