On the background of developments around the Omega Group, civil society claims that there is no resource for the investigation of elite corruption and informal governance in the country.
"It is necessary to provide information to friends of Georgia, what problem do we ghave. For example the issue of Partskhaladze. There are many cases linked to the former Auditor General. For example, the episode linked to Vano Merabishvili, the episode of property acceptance during the rule of the administration of the former Mayor of Tbilisi. Even an investigation has not been conducted regarding this cases. Apparently, there are people in the country who are above the law, "said Sulkhan Saladze, chairman of the Georgian Young Lawyers" Association.
According to the civil sector, the informal leadership has led the country to the crisis of democratic institutions.
