Annual Report of European Parliament - Majority Is Satisfied with Document and Opposition Slams Government

The position and remarks relating to Georgia in the European Parliament"s annual report are considered positive in the "Georgian Dream", although this opinion is not shared by the Georgian opposition. Elite corruption, judicial system, election environment and "Rustavi 2" case - these are the issues that have been reflected in the document after dozens of amendments and several months of discussions by Georgian and European political groups. Voting on the text will be held at the European Parliament session in the nearest future.

"We have a very important progress in strengthening democratic institutions, in terms of improving the media environment, in terms of combating corruption, in terms of judicial reforms, we have strong support from the European Parliament," Tamar Khulordava said.

In the opposition, they explain that Georgia is compared to corrupt countries, which is quite a bad indicator.

"When you get into the company of corrupt countries such as Ukraine, Moldova, Armenia and Azerbaijan it is not something to boast about. We have always tried to compare to the developed states, their democracy and their level of development," - said Gia Baramidze, a member of the National Movement.

European Georgia focuses on the attention and the attitude of European partners and say that their vigilance towards Georgia is very important.
