It is a historic day for the Ukrainian Orthodox Church - World Patriarch is to sign a resolution on the autocephaly of the Ukrainian Church in Istanbul.The ceremony will be attended by the head of the Ukrainian Church, Metropolitan Epiphany and President Petro Poroshenko.
Before the signature Patriarch Bartholomew released a special appeal and called on the Orthodox world to recognize the independence of the Ukrainian Church.
After the completion of the liturgy, the document will be officially handed over to the Metropolitan Epiphany, and during the Christmas Liturgy it will be exhibited at the Holy Sophia Temple.
