The NGO "Georgian Democratic Initiative" appeals to the Constitutional Court on the regulation of the law on accumulated pensions.
The civil sector makes it clear that part of the law which obliges to participate in the pension reform does not allow the citizens to choose whether they want to participate in the pension scheme.The suit indicates that this regulation does not take into account for the property state of citizens. The suit will be filed today.
"We believe that the state does not have the power to decide on how to better manage the citizens` property, which happens in this case.There is no mechanism ensuring compensation for citizens
in case the money is lost.That is the state lifts the responsibility for the loss of this amount, "- said Eduard Marikashvili, director of the Strategic Proceedings Program of the Georgian Democratic Initiative.
The accumulated pension system has already been launched since January 1.
