The Public Defender of Georgia met with the Prosecutor General today. Irakli Shotadze and Nino Lomjaria talked about Giorgi Shakarashvili and Tamar Bachaliashvili’s case.
According to the Ombudsman, she was told at the Prosecutor General’s Office that the FBI had no readiness to get involved in Bachaliashvili’s case.
“As we were told, there was preliminary communication with the relevant attaché about the possibility of cooperation. As Shotadze said, views were exchanged about the FBI involvement. The FBI says it has no competence to engage in the investigation of another country. Consequently, at this point, as I was told, the FBI does not have the relevant readiness. However, according to the Prosecutor General, they have addressed Facebook and Google for international legal assistance”, - said the Public Defender.
