Prime Minister of Georgia meets Columbia Group President and CEO

Irakli Kobakhidze, Prime Minister of Georgia met Andreas Hadjipetrou, President and Chief Executive Officer of Columbia Group.

The meeting, held on the sidelines of the Georgian International Maritime Forum, focused on the development of the partnership between Georgia and Columbia Group. The company’s significant contribution to supporting Georgia’s maritime sector and providing employment opportunities for Georgian seafarers was highlighted.

The Prime Minister of Georgia noted that the development of the maritime sector is a priority for the Government of Georgia, which will contribute to strengthening the country’s role as a transport and logistics hub.

The growing dynamics of freight flows and the further development of Georgia’s port capacity were also discussed. Particular attention was paid to the Anaklia Deep Sea Port project, the construction of which is actively underway.

The meeting also focused on prospects for cooperation aimed at enhancing seafarers’ qualifications and the quality of maritime education, including the implementation of joint educational programmes.

The meeting was attended by Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia Mariam Kvrivishvili; Deputy Minister Tamar Ioseliani; Head of Government Administration Levan Zhorzholiani and Director of the Maritime Transport Agency Ivane Abashidze.
