For Georgia, the Black Sea does not mark the terminus of the Middle Corridor; it represents its natural continuation. Such a statement the Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development made at the opening of the Georgia International Maritime Forum in Batumi.

As she noted, direct access to the Black Sea makes Georgia one of the key links of the Middle Corridor and provides 8 landlocked countries with the opportunity to connect with global markets.

“Utilizing precisely this geographical advantage and developing maritime capabilities is one of the main directions of our transport policy.

We are responding to this opportunity with a consistent and long-term policy. We have developed a 10-year plan for the development of the country’s transport infrastructure, which integrates all major transport and logistics directions and aims to double the capacity of ports and railways by 2036”, - said Mariam Kvrivishvili.

As she added, in line with this vision, the Government is implementing major projects to increase transport infrastructure and corridor efficiency.
