Minister of Internal Affairs - Vakhtang Gomelauri has a new Deputy Minister. Under the order of the Prime Minister of Georgia, Alexander Darakhvelidze has been appointed on the position of the Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs, who will also undertake the functions of Parliamentary Secretary of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

Alexander Darakhvelidze holds a master"s degree in law. He has been the Director of the Legal Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs since 2019 up to date. In 2018-2019, Darakhvelidze was the Deputy Head of the Administration of the Government of Georgia. In 2018, he held the position of the Deputy Minister of Corrections and Probation, prior to the mentioned position, he was the Head of the Legal Department of the same agency.

In 2009-2012 Darakhvelidze worked on various positions in the Office of the Public Defender of Georgia.

Alexander Darakhvelidze is engaged in academic activities at several universities, he is a visiting lecturer at Caucasus University and European University.
