The MIA released a statement on the issue of the replacing state number plates of the old model with the new ones

The Service Agency of the Ministry of Internal Affairs is actively involved in the process of the state replacing state number plates of the old model with the new ones.

“In addition to the mentioned, through the mobile application of the Service Agency (SAGENCY), a physical person who owns a vehicle is able to request a new license plate remotely, if the vehicle registered in his/her name is not altered and data (model, body type, color, fuel type, Engine number or capacity, etc.) has not been changed or is not for sale.

The service agency mobile application (SAGENCY) can be downloaded from the APP Store in case of using iPhone, and from the PLAY Store in case of having Android. After downloading, the interested person will register if he / she has not been registered on the website of the service agency before. In order to receive remote services and for registering in the mobile phone application, the interested person will have to indicate personal data: name, surname, personal number, mobile phone number and e-mail address. In case of having a registration, the interested person will be able to go to the personal page after application authorization process.

The Service Agency of the Ministry of Internal Affairs started issuing number plates with a new design in 2014 and immediately announced the deadline for changing the state number plates - a specific date of September 2020, however, due to preventive measures against the spread of coronavirus, the mentioned six-year period was extended to March 31 of the current year.

As a large number of old sample number plates remained in circulation across the country, the service agency repeatedly called on the owners of the respective vehicles to apply on time to the agency’s structural units. The Service Agency has also informed the public that when replacing an old state license plates with new ones, it is no longer mandatory to bring and inspect the vehicle in the territorial units of the Agency.

Service Agency once again would like to remind citizens that the old license plates will expire on April 1, 2021, however, they will still be able change the state license plates of the vehicle in the territorial units of the Agency, without bringing and inspecting the vehicle.

It is also notable that from April 1, moving by car with an old license plate will be regarded as administrative violation and the owner will be fined under the Code of Administrative Offences”, - reads the statement.
