Military oath-taking ceremonies are being held in Tbilisi and 5 regions of Georgia - Svaneti, Adjara, Samtskhe-Javakheti, Kakheti and Mtskheta.

The main event dedicated to the Independence Day of Georgia is being held on Freedom Square at the moment.

Various units of the Armed Forces were deployed in the main square of Tbilisi as part of the ceremony. Georgian officials are addressing the population of the country, after which 247 recruits will take the military oath.

On the occasion of Georgia’s Independence Day, the remains of Georgia’s national hero and commander-in-chief of the first Democratic Republic of Georgia, General Giorgi Kvinitadze will be laid to rest at the Mtatsminda Pantheon of Writers and Public Figures.
