New tariff of natural gas will come into force on June 1 and will be effective until December, 31, 2022. Such a statement made today the chairman of the Georgian National Energy and Water Supply Regulatory Commission.

According to David Narmania, the price of natural gas will increase in Tbilisi by 8 tetri starting June 1.

“It is important to revise the tariffs in order to compensate for the losses incurred as a result of the depreciation of the GEL. When we set the tariff the rate was 2.97. After that, the company had to buy energy at a higher price than was supplied to the population at the tariff set by us. This is what led to the accumulation of debt for the company”, - added David Narmania.

As of today the price of natural gas in Tbilisi is 46.153 tetri per m3. Starting June 1, the tariff will increase to 54 tetri per cubic meter of gas.
