Azerbaijani air company Silk Way West Airlines will carry out Chicago-Tbilisi-Baku cargo flights. Georgian Minister of Economy deemed the increase of air cargo operations a positive fact for the Georgian economy.
The first flight will be carried out today, August 10. The Georgian Civil Aviation Agency gave the operating permit to the Azerbaijani air company on August 6 after the governments of Georgia and Azerbaijan negotiated the application of Fifth Freedom of The Air that allows an airline to carry revenue traffic between foreign countries.
“First - it is important that cargo flights from the US will be performed in Georgia. Second, this is a very positive fact for our economy, as freight, including air freight, is on the rise. In 2020-2021, we had very good dynamics in this direction”, - added Natia Turnava.
