Charges pressed against man inflicting 30 stab wounds on 22-year-old pregnant wife - Prosecutor’s Office

The Prosecutor’s Office has charged 1 person with murder of a pregnant wife.

“An investigation conducted by the Ministry of Internal Affairs revealed that on December 22, in Tbilisi, in order to intentionally kill his wife, the accused stabbed the pregnant woman in 30 various parts of her body. The victim died on the spot as a result of the injuries sustained.

Police detained the accused the same day. He was charged with Article 111, 109 [murder of a pregnant woman, family member, with special cruelty]. The crime is punishable from 16 to 20 years or life imprisonment”, - reads the statement.

The agency will apply to the court within the time limit established by law to use detention as a measure of restraint for the accused.

Goga Gzirishvili, 23, was detained for murdering his 5-month pregnant wife, 22-year-old Keta Kepuladze in Vakrketili District, Tbilisi. He attempted to flee the scene afterward.
