Circulation term of 1995-99 GEL banknotes expires - National Bank

According to the National Bank of Georgia, the circulation term of Georgian GEL banknotes issued in 1995 and 1999 expired on January 1, 2022.

Banknotes of all GEL denominations issued since 2002 are legal tender across the country.

“All legal entities and individuals are obliged to receive and pay with these banknotes [issues since 2002] without any problems. Banknotes from 1995 and 1999 can be exchanged at cash centers of the National Bank”, - reads the statement.
