The Defense and Security Committee held an in-camera meeting on the impact of the global and regional security situation on the security and national interests of Georgia, existing and expected threats and challenges.
The Deputy Defense Minister, Deputy Chief of the Intelligence Service and the Head of the Intelligence Department of the Defense Forces informed MPs and answered their questions.
After the meeting, the Committee summed up the received information.
“The reporters introduced comprehensive information on the security milieu, various threats and challenges, including the military and hybrid threats etc. We discussed certain regions encountering Russian military activities and thus, posing a direct or indirect negative impact on our national security. The Intelligence Service and Military Intelligence Department provided interesting information. We will further hear respective services in the Committee to set our priorities according to the immense challenges in the region and these hearings are utmost for our informational requirements and oversight activity”, - said Irakli Beraia.
