From March 1, a large-scale public employment program will be launched for people receiving social benefits. Such a statement made today the Prime Minister of Georgia.
“Our main task is to overcome poverty, create jobs, change social policy. We know well that the way to poverty reduction is creation of jobs. That is why we must start an active employment policy this year.
The existing social policy pushes socially vulnerable citizens, who are able to work, to inaction. Up to 200 000 out of 600 000 socially vulnerable citizens are able to work. They are absolutely demotivated to be employed legally.
Of course, we have to help the socially vulnerable elderly, children, people with disabilities, everyone who needs it, but people who are capable of working need no allowance, but employment and self-realization. These citizens need to engage in the economic process for the well-being of each family, for the development of Georgia.
We will start this process on March 1 and launch an active employment policy”, - said Irakli Garibashvili.
