You cannot trade outside and sell everything together - clothes, food - cheese, meat. Such a statement made today the Mayor of Tbilisi, while talking about street trading.
“I would like to touch upon the topic of street trading, which is categorically unacceptable. Under no circumstances should economic activities be carried out in specific areas where trade is not allowed. We had such a fact in the vicinity of the Varketili underground station.
We have received many letters came from citizens complaining that they couldn’t cross that area. At the same time, we started to carry out infrastructural works, as a result of which the pedestrian roads will be completely repaired and dams will be arranged so that it is safe to walk. As for the street traders who had occupied the sidewalks, they were relocated to the market area.
Do not think that we do not understand and do not see the hardships, the social problems that afflict many people in the country. I understand everyone’s situation very well, I take everything into account. No one prohibits you to carry out this activity, but everything should be definitely done in a civilian way. Do you think the people working inside the market are delighted with well-being?! Aren’t they in trouble?! Do they stand in vain every day to bring daily bread to families?!
Certainly, they also have a hard time, but they are law-abiding people. You understand that you cannot trade outside and sell everything together - clothes, food - cheese, meat. Is it normal?! Therefore, this cannot be allowed”, - said Kakha Kaladze.
