Special Investigation Service revealed 4 law enforcement officers into violent crimes

As a result of the investigation carried out by the Special Investigation Service (SIS) in Tbilisi and Adjara in August of this year, the SIS revealed 4 law enforcement officers into violent crimes.

G.G., an employee of the Mtskheta-Mtianeti Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia (MIA) was exposed for threatening to kill a citizen with a firearm during a conflict in Dusheti municipality on August 8, 2023. The Prosecutor’s Office of Georgia charged this person with the threat.

S.A., an employee of the Security Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia (MIA), was exposed by the Special Investigation Service (SIS) for systematically insulting and humiliating his wife. In August of this year, he also threatened his wife to kill their son.

The SIS arrested him on charges of domestic violence and threat. A crime shall be punished by imprisonment for a term of 4 to 6 years,

L. K., an employee of the Department of Special Tasks of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia (MIA) physically assaulted and threatened to kill a citizen during a mutual dispute in Gori on July 2, 2023,

The Prosecutor’s Office of Georgia charged this law enforcement officer with violence and threat. G.Ch., an Inspector of the Security Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia (MIA), was exposed by the Special Investigation Service (SIS). In November 2022 in the village of Khala, Kobuleti Municipality he physically assaulted his wife in the presence of their minor children and later threatened to kill her.

The Prosecutor’s Office of Georgia charged this law enforcement officer with violence and threat. The Special Investigation Service (SIS) within its mandate continues to intensively investigate cases of ill-treatment, exceeding official powers and other violent crimes. Updates on the progress and results of these investigations will be provided to the public.
